Sunday 7 December 2008 'Running Crazy' pride themselves on offering a great After Race Party - our programme would not be complete without offering a Marathon or a Half Marathon in perhaps the best known party town in the world - Las Vegas! With Direct flights or Stop-over (normally 2-6 hours) on offer from all over, getting here could not be easier. You have got to see it to believe it! The Weekend: There is so much to do in Las Vegas that your feet won't touch the ground from the minute you arrive at McCarran International Airport. Theatre, Shows, Concerts, Cinema, Discos, Nightclubs, Bars, Cafes, Restaurants .....and you haven't even left the hotel yet! The Las Vegas 'strip' is well known the world over. Themed hotels from one end to the other. Circus, Circus; New York, New York; Planet Hollywood; Mirage; Caesars Palace; Paris; Bellagio; Venetian; Treasure Island; MGM Grand; the Luxor; Excalibur and Mandalay Bay. All offer great shows, gaming, and free nightly events. Las Vegas isn't just about hitting the tables (although you are welcome to do so if you fancy a flutter) - Only in America could a town like Las Vegas exist. What is included: Met at Las Vegas McCarran International Airport by 'Running Crazy' Staff The race: Starting at 6.00am on the Sunday morning, mainly for the traffic and nothing to do with the mild temperatures at this time of year, the Las Vegas Marathon and Half Marathon start together. The race course takes in the entire length of 'the strip' and returns via a parallel street. 2 laps for the Marathon, 1 lap for the Half Marathon. The course is flat, with good potential for a PB, and even at that time of day is very well supported. This is a mass participation event (8,000 upwards) and so there are corralled start pens. Time limit - 6 hours. As the race starts at this time an arrival the day before does not present a problem - your body clock will not have adjusted and you will be up by then anyway! Alternatively arrive a few days before and acclimatise. Course map:
Accommodation: We have secured good class accommodation on 'the strip' at a hotel that boasts all the gaming, nightclub, restaurants and show amenities you could wish for. It is conveniently located for the race start and finish (just 5 minutes away). This is great for kit storage, changing, showering and the all important pre-race preparations - no portaloo for you - unless you want it! The Weather: Las Vegas is in the middle of a desert - however the temperatures at this time of year remain mild. It is a great time of year to run. The average temperature at 6.00 am (race start time) in December is 10 degrees celsius. Entertainment: Las Vegas is the entertainment capital of the world. Nowhere offers such a diverse array of good value, quality entertainment. Las Vegas has it all - in bucketloads! We will have an optional programme on offer for most days and evenings - join in as and when you feel like it. In addition you should visit the Marathon EXPO, consider a trip to the Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, and the amazing Grand Canyon. Try a spot of Skydiving (inside or out!), Bungy jumping, a thrilling ride at the top of the Stratosphere Tower, fine dining or just sit back and relax watching everybody else going mad! Groups: Travelling as a group is a sociable way to arrive - speak with your running colleagues and training pals. Single runners are of course very welcome to join us. We have explored Las Vegas and know it inside out - we know the best places to go! There is a prize for every group of 10, and for groups of 20 substantial discounts apply. Prices: Prices are dependent on the number of nights you are staying and start from just £299 for 3 days. What to do next?
