The Race:
Barcelona over the past few years have ‘fiddled around’ with their
races, and now the Barcelona Tourist Board have taken responsibility
for the Marathon. Starting in one of the most scenic parts of town, the
course takes in some of the great sights of the city, running down huge
straight boulevards. If you are looking for a PB this is an ideal
course, starting early morning and run over a very flat course. If
times are not your concern, then you will be more interested in the
sights – there is plenty to see. Time limit is set at 6 hours.
The Course:

Tha race starts at 8.00 am
Accommodation:
‘Running Crazy Ltd’ have secured 4* Hotel accommodation on a Bed & Breakfast basis, right alongside the Race Start and Finish area. This
is ideal for your pre-race preparations, kit security, changing and
showering. In addition there is an indoor swimming pool.
The Weather:
Here are the figures:
- average
sunshine hours per day: 6
- wet
days in a month: 8
- average
temperatuire: 9-16 degrees celsius
- humidity: 75% (at 0700 hrs) 60% (at 14.00 hrs)
- average monthly
rainfall: 1.9"
Entertainment:
Barcelona has become a popular tourist destination, and mainly because
there is such a lot to see and do. As well as the great works of Gaudi,
Dali and alike, there is a varied and lively nightlife – all night if
you like! There are many tours of the city and with sights such as the
Church of the Sagrada Familia, and Barcelona FC’s Nou Camp there are
great photo opportunities everywhere.
Groups:
This weekend offers a great opportunity for Clubs or training Partners
to get together. It may also make the travel arrangements more
convenient and enjoyable. There are discounts available for larger
groups (20+), but even a group of just 10 will qualify for an
additional prize for the first or last to finish (you
choose!).
Prices:
This weekend represents good value for money – and prices start from as
little as £149
for the weekend. Non-runners obviously pay less.
