The Weekend:
Barcelona, just saying the name almost makes you want to burst in to
song. One of the most popular European cities for a short break is also
home to many road running races during the year. The ‘Cursa del
Bombers’ (Race of the Firemen) is a long established event, and is
sponsored by Nike. Over 28,000 runners take part, and it is quite a
sight to see, as many of the runners wear their official ‘T-Shirts’.

The Race:
This is an extremely popular mass participation event, and most of the
city centre is closed off enabling this event to take place. It is a
dead flat extremely fast course, and if you are looking for a new PB
for the 10K, this is one to give an ‘eyeballs-out’ effort, providing
you start from the correct timing area. If it is just the participation
you are interested in, then there will be plenty of people around you
to make you feel part of something special.
Accommodation:
‘Running Crazy Ltd’ have secured 3* Hotel accommodation on a Bed & Breakfast basis at a hotel very close to the race start and finish
area. This is ideal for pre-race preparations, kit security and after
race changing and showering.
The Weather:
The mild climate at this spring time of year makes Barcelona a great
place to run. Here are the figures:
- average
sunshine hours per day: 7
- wet
days in a month: 8
- average
temperatuire: 11-18 degrees celsius
- humidity: 73% (at 0700 hrs) 59% (at 14.00 hrs)
- average monthly
rainfall: 1.7"
Entertainment:
Ensuring that your supporters and friends and family are kept
interested and occupied is an important consideration. There is so much
to do in Barcelona that everybody is catered for. There are organised
open top bus tours, Gaudi and Dali sights, fantastic architecture at
every turn, and all linked together by a great and easy to understand
transportation system. The night time scene is famous too, and you can
be kept busy 24 hours a day in this city.
Groups:
This weekend offers a great opportunity for Clubs & training
partners to get together. Travelling together may also be more
convenient and more fun too. There are discounts available for larger
groups (20+), but even a group of just 10 runners will qualify for an
additional prize for the first or last (you choose) to finish.
Prices
Our all inclusive prices are extremely competitive - from as little as just £149 for the weekend - we know we cannot be beaten on price - and our runners continually tell us that they receive so much more on a 'Running Crazy' weekend break. All our 'resort races' offer half board accommodation, and for our 'Big City' races we know all the best value places to eat, drink and have fun. Indeed we book these for our pre-race and after race gatherings, meaning groups and individuals can just sit back, relax, make new running pals and let us do any worrying. No tourist traps for our clients! We know these races and places inside out, and will advise on what to see and do over the weekend, provide directions and maps - all very useful when on a tight timescale. All you have to do is run!
